Helena music teachers organized the Association in 1965.

• To strive for a cooperative spirit among all the music teachers of Helena and vicinity;
• To promote the study of music for any interested persons of this community;
• To create a spirit of cooperation and goodwill with the schools and musical organizations of this area; create a spirit of cooperation and goodwill with area schools;
• To further our own professional education;
• HMTA supports and encourages high musical standards for the Helena community.
• HMTA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization supporting Helena Music Teachers Foundation and providing opportunities in music education in the vicinity of Helena, Montana.
